Buttercup room

Here we care for the youngest children, those aged between 4- 14 months. Buttercup room has a special and separate area attached where the babies can sleep in peace. Each child has their own sheets and blanket and the children are checked regularly whilst they sleep. This area also has a dedicated kitchen for making any feeds or snacks. The toys and equipment in this area have been carefully selected to provide fun and stimulation, whilst encouraging the development of each individual child.

We ensure that we have a full range of seating for each age group and even the youngest children become involved in the activity of the day, painting sticking and messy play. The children’s work is displayed all around the room and parents are regularly given items of their children’s art to take home. The children are taken outside to play regularly.

All meals and snacks are freshly prepared for the children and we can puree food as required. We encourage all of the children to eat a healthy diet and fruit is served every day.

As in all of our areas we ensure that there is consistency of staff, this is particularly important in this area to make sure that younger children make safe and secure relationships with those who care for them. There are never more than 9 babies in this area at any one time and a strict ratio of 1 adult to 3 babies is adhered to at all times.
