Playdays room

This area is named after the small playgroup that was based in the local Methodist church and was the seed of our new Children’s centre. Playdays is housed at the opposite side of our building to the other rooms and has its own outside area as well as access to the 2 large main areas. All of the children in this area are in their pre-school year and therefore eligible for the Nursery Grant. Many attend for the sessions only whilst others stay for full days or join us during the school holiday times.

The curriculum used in this area is the Foundation Stage and we work in partnership with the local schools the children are to attend. The group follow the early learning goals of the national curriculum. Whilst we are aware of the need for attention to education all activities and learning are offered in an atmosphere that encourages the children to learn through play, becoming active explorers and participants in their own environment and development. All of the children have their own Key Worker and have a Learning Diary

We have a maximum of 24 children in this area. This team is led by an Early Years Teacher with an experienced team of 3 nursery staff who do an excellent job of preparing the children for school. Once again the emphasis is on fun, making the children’s first experience of education a very positive and happy one.
