Violet room

Children cared for in this area are aged approximately 14 - 26 months. All of the toys and equipment in this area are especially purchased for children of this age group to play and learn with.

As this area adjoins the garden the children are taken out to play regularly throughout the day. Different craft activities are planned and carried out each day which allows the children to play and learn using all of their senses. Every child is given the opportunity to take part in all of the activities many of which are very messy indeed! The room is covered by examples of the children’s work and again parents are regularly given photographs and pieces of art to take home with them.

The children sit at the table with the staff for all meals and snacks to encourage their social development and skills. The team in this area follows the ‘Birth to 3 Matters’ curriculum when planning the care and activities for the children.

There are never more than 15 children in this area at any one time with 4 permanent members of staff. Every child has a Key Worker who is predominantly responsible for that child and for reporting back to parents. However every member of the team knows every child and there special ways well and is able to care for the child and feedback to parents
